Combining the look of an antique with the functionality of a contemporary desk, is the Bush Fairview L-shaped Desk with Hutch and Optional File. This desk is made for someone who uses a desk for its intended purpose; it’s indeed a workhorse. Although its distressed wood finish can’t help but get noticed when you walk into a room.
Designed for the Executive, the Mid-Level Manager or for Your Home-Office
It’s not often that you can find a desk so versatile that its look appeals to any level up and down the corporate ladder.
There are myriad of design features I like in the Fairview L-Desk. Offering two work surfaces, one for detailed computer work, the other can be used for your research, organizing projects, and your peripherals, such as a printer.
There’s optimum storage for the person who favors seeing only personal effects on his or her desk. On either side of the hutch are two cubbies, each with its own door, perfect for hiding things away. In between are three spaces ideal for easy-to-access items you use on a regular basis. Above them is a large display area, which is open and can be used for books or to exhibit family photos.
The desk boasts ample space for your everyday files, a second drawer for your most commonly used supplies and an added bonus. If you’re a person who prefers a place to put the day’s work away before going home for the evening, you’ll love the area above the drawer, which can easily hold a ream’s worth of paper and more. The sliding keyboard tray is another plus for me; pushing it in when it’s not in use is an option I tend to look for in a desk. The covered compartment for either your CPU or a place to hide a your valuables is just one more thing I love seeing in a desk.

Quite honestly, because of its versatility and sophistication, I can easily see this desk in the office of anyone from the assistant to the CEO to a manager to an executive. I can also see it in the home-office of someone who needs all the amenities of found in a corporate setting who has very discerning taste.

Perhaps this desk wouldn’t work well in a college dorm or the room of a teenager who hasn’t quite mastered the technique of furniture polish or how to care for such a tasteful piece. Apart from that, if you desire a desk that’s as much practical as it is classy, this desk is for you.
My Final Verdict
I only see an upside to owning this desk. In reading the customer reviews, all of which were favorable, the things that stood out were:
- People love the design
- They equally love the durability and spaciousness
I like that the Bush Fairview L-Desk with Hutch doesn’t tout itself as an executive desk, although it can easily be seen in the office of one.
Fairview L-Desk dimensions: 30.63″ H x 59.63″ W x 59.63″ D
Fairview Hutch for L-Desk dimensions: 38.25″ H x 60.38″ W x 12.25″ D
If your job requires you to be the keeper of many files that can’t be archived, you’ll want to consider the Fairview Lateral File, which has the exact same style and finish as the desk. Its dimensions are: 30.63″ H x 29.63″ W x 20.88″ D
